Sweetness and Power - Sidney Mintz

I never did finish Salt so I thought I'd shift gears. Well this wasn't really of my own choosing. I was assigned this book for a class that I have since dropped. It's ok. It's strange in that it's a lot more detailed than Salt, but only because it looks at a more specific situation. Salt looks at how salt affected the entire world. Sweetness and Power focuses mostly on how sugar affected the English working class and their diet.

I didn't finish this book either, but it was interesting. I think it's a good counterpoint to Salt, although it doesn't have nearly as many "did you know" moments.
