I just started reading this book a few days ago. I'm already enthralled with it. There are so many interesting things about salt. I never knew how much this so taken-for-granted substance had shaped the history of the world. Hence the title I guess.
I find it very interesting to examine the ordinary things in the world. It's something that you see every day, that you eat every day and you never take the time to learn anything about them.
Who knew that such a simple substance shaped destinies. Read this. Seriously. Read it.
